Trigeminal neuralgia

Trigeminal neuralgia is one of the headaches and facial pain. It is characterized by brief, severe attacks of pain lasting less than 2 min, localized in one or more facial areas (areas supplying the trigeminal nerve) and typically triggered by specific trigger factors (such as a draught, chewing, or touch). The cause of classic trigeminal neuralgia is often a so-called pathological vascular-nerve contact. There are medicinal and surgical therapy methods, which have to be weighed up individually.
