“Cluster headaches” occur temporally clustered; on the one hand related to the time of day … on the other hand also related to the season (often spring and autumn). This is very, very severe pain, unilateral and localized around one eye, lasting 15 – 180 min if untreated. According to the Diagnostic Criteria, these 4 major criteria must all be met in order to make a diagnosis, and only one of 9 minor criteria must apply. Oxygen and triptans are used in acute therapy. There are also prophylactics to be discussed individually.
