A sudden onset of neurological incidence might indicate a neurological emergency. Therefore we strongly recommend visiting the emergency room of the nearest hospital.
Phone number: 144
Only in a hospital the neccessary diagnostics – especially concerning imaging – are available.
Do not lose time, because: „Time is brain!“
Another recommendation: Always take a list with yourself with essential medical information: – Previous diseases – Medication – Allergies
It helps saving time!
Diagnostic specialisation
In addition to the very essential preliminary conversation and neurological examination, our practice team have experience with the following diagnostic tools:
Electroneurography (ENG) and Electromyography (EMG)
Electroneurography (ENG) uses current stimuli to measure nerve function. Nerve conduction velocity (NLG) and amplitude are relevant for assessment.
Electromyography (EMG) uses needle electrodes to “listen inside” the muscle.
Electroencephalography (EEG)
Electroencephalography (EEG) is used to record “brain waves.” For example, localized or generalized slowing or increased cerebral excitability can be detected. Such controls are also necessary for the treatment of epilepsy.
Doppler-/Duplexsonography
This ultrasound procedure can gently and effectively assess the neck arteries. This information is also relevant in the context of stroke prevention.
Polygraphy (outpatient sleep screening)
The sleep screening device can be taken home, so that the examination takes place in the bed at home. Since sleep laboratories often have long waiting times, this method can provide initial indications and help explain the cause of daytime sleepiness.
